Alligator hunt along the Cooper River Oct. 5, 2008 in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. Alligators are usually hunted at night by shining lights along the river banks and into their eyes which makes them glow and easier to find. After 40 years, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) issued 1,000 permits to hunt alligators in South Carolina in an effort to control the population which numbers more than 100,000.
